The Fix

Acts 17:31

“Because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead.”

The Fix

                The Daily News out of New York projected a title on 12/3/2015 that reads, “GOD ISN’T FIXING THIS.” This title came in light of shootings in San Bernardino, CA which happened on the previous day. This along with the tragedy in France, tragedies in other parts of the world, school shootings, shootings at military bases and you name it. Tragedy surrounds us!

                We quite frankly live in a world of death and destruction. This is actually the natural order of a broken, fallen, world. Romans 1:20 reads, “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made.” The problem is we naturally do not see God’s invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature because we are spiritually dead as Paul says in Ephesians 2:1. This is the problem!! Death and destruction happen because we are separated from an all-powerful, all-knowing, everywhere at all times creator who is compassionate, loving, kind, peaceful and wants nothing but the best for His creatures, namely us. What is the best thing for us? Him!

                As a consequence of not living in communion with the all-knowing, all-powerful, everywhere at all times God, we are subjected to death. We are first subjected to spiritual death, in which we do not naturally believe in God, then physical death as a result of not believing in God, and then eternal death (Hell) for those who do not repent and believe in the fix that God has supplied. This world is full of pain, suffering, tears, brokenness and death because of unbelief in the one true awesome God.

                There is hope and God has fixed it! Currently we are in the age of sin and destruction but there will be a day when this will all end! Acts 17:31 reads, “Because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead.” Jesus Christ is the fix! The greatest tragedy known to man is when the awesome God Himself came in the form of His Son to take on human flesh and live among us. He was convicted and sentenced to death at the hands of human beings because He claimed to be God. But God showed His power over death by raising the Man, Christ Jesus, from the dead and then seated Him in the place of total authority over all things! Even the death and destruction that is currently happening is under the order of the Lord Jesus Christ.

                The greatest tragedy in the world was actually the greatest blessing because what God did was abolish the effects of death by purifying sin through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ who is the perfect image of God the Father. The image is of love, care, benevolence, tenderness, compassion, mercy, grace and justice.

                Unbelief still condemns people. People who do not put their trust in the just judge of the entire universe, Jesus Christ, will still experience eternal death. People who do not accept the fix that God has designed in the person of Jesus Christ will one day face Him as their eternal Judge and will not escape the penalty that comes from unbelief. God has given us the backdrop of a world of death and destruction to help us understand the consequence of unbelief. We have not experienced the full consequence of not believing in Him. There will be a day when Jesus returns and those who do not confess their unbelief and turn to Him in trust will not have a chance to do so.

                The time is now! Believe on the fix that God supplied in the person of Jesus Christ who is Lord. If you are a follower of God and Savior Jesus Christ, rejoice because you now have life! It is fixed! We may not see it now fully but we will one day. Use this devotional to encourage others who do not know Christ to follow Him. He is the only way to God, truth about God, and life that God supplies. No one will be with God if they do not believe in the Lord Jesus Christ! He is the fix and He is coming back! Revelation 21:4 reads when He returns to His people, “and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be mourning, or crying, or pain.”
