S.A.L.T
1 Corinthians 1:4-9
I thank my God always concerning you for the grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus, that in everything you were enriched in Him, in all speech and all knowledge, even as the testimony concerning Christ was confirmed in you, so that you are not lacking in any gift, awaiting eagerly the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will also confirm you to the end, blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, through whom you were called into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Saints As Living Testimonies
The bible is complete! The Lord by His Spirit over a period of 1600 years, by 40 or so different authors, wrote 66 letters with one consistent message, the message of Jesus Christ. The Lord could have used anything but sinful men were used by God to pen the greatest story ever told. The bible is complete but God is still telling His story through you.
Paul was writing to an unruly bunch of people in the Corinthians of which He was not ashamed to call brothers. Verse 10 reads, “Now I exhort you, brethren.” He wasn’t speaking to people who had it all together and were super saints. He was writing to an immature bunch that the testimony of Christ was confirmed in them. We do not consider you an unruly bunch of Christians performing abominable acts as the Corinthians were but, like the Corinthians, you do have a story to tell.
The Fisherman’s Club has always existed to help encourage evangelism within the body of Christ Community Church. Attendance and participation was always at a minimum. One of the pieces of feedback we received was the name may be conflicting with the participation. We ran a contest through Facebook to see if there was another name that might be of interest for this ministry. The entry that received the most likes would be the new name. S.A.L.T was submitted by Susie Cross and received the most likes. She used the acronym S.A.L.T to abbreviate the name Saints As Living Testimonies. What a fitting name as this is who you are. You were called by God, by the power of His Spirit, through the glory and excellence of Jesus Christ, and you have a story to tell.
S.A.L.T exists to help encourage evangelism within the body of Christ Community Church using prayer and God’s word as our foundation. Currently we encourage prayer for the lost at any time we gather to fellowship and for boldness in proclaiming Christ. We also produce a weekly devotional such as this one to help cultivate hearts of love and praise towards our Lord. Being able to speak of Jesus is a gift. It should feel like an honor to share Christ and not a hindrance. S.A.L.T exists to make Jesus the most glorious person in creation because, He is!
Please reach out to Zane Burke, zane_burke@hotmail.com, if you would like to be involved in this ministry. There is more that we could be doing and many hands make light work. You may have some great ideas and experience in this type of ministry and we would love to hear from you. You may just want to be involved and we would love to have you as well.
As we started, the canon of scripture is complete, but God is still telling His story through us whom He foreknew before the foundation of this world, by the sanctifying power of His Spirit, to obey Jesus Christ and be sprinkled with His blood! You can attest to this. You are a living testimony to the power of God in your life. He wants you to share because He uses the truth that He has shared with you to bring others to Himself. God performs miracles through our spoken truth of Him. What an honor it is to be considered Saints As Living Testimonies!
