Eat your veggies!

share the gospel eat your vegetables

“Children, eat your vegetables.” Children don’t always want to eat their vegetables. There are times parents command their children to eat their vegetables. Sometimes parents take the time to sit and explain how the body needs vegetables as part of the overall diet. Either way, the parents know if the children eat their vegetables they will benefit. Eating vegetables will result in healthier bodies which contributes to joyful living. Unfortunately, the child typically responds to the thorough explanation or the direct command in the same resistant manner. No amount of explaining nutritional benefits will entice the child to put in their mouth something they find distasteful.

“Christian, evangelize the lost.”  If you share the gospel your soul will benefit. The Bible promises you will be blessed in sharing the message of salvation. Don’t take my word for it. Test and prove God to be true and faithful. Hopefully, we are all more mature than children. Hopefully, we will all listen to reason and trust the authority of Scripture when it tells us to do something our natural self finds distasteful.

I have put together a list of reasons we share the gospel. My prayer is this list will provide the encouragement you need to share your faith and receive the blessings God has in store for those who boldly proclaim Christ to a lost and dying world.

10 Reasons to Share the Gospel

  1. It is a command of Scripture and we find joy in obeying God’s commands.
Mark 16:16 Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.
  2. We desire to gain our life and not lose it.
Mark 8:35 For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it.
  3. We truly love people and know there is no other way for them to be saved.
Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.
  4. Our speaking the gospel to others proves our heart.
1 Thessalonians 2:4 But as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, even so we speak, not as pleasing men, but God who tests our hearts.
  5. The gospel flows out naturally from our changed heart.
Matthew 12:34 For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.
  6. We are honored and privileged God entrusts us with such an important task.
1 Corinthians 4:1-2 Let a man so consider us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful.
  7. We view the gospel ministry we receive from God as more valuable than life itself.
Acts 20:24  But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.
  8. Speaking from one person to another is God’s primary way to spread the gospel.
Romans 10:14 How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher?
  9. Praising the love of God satisfies our soul.
Psalm 63:3-5 Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you. So I will bless you as long as I live; in your name I will lift up my hands. My soul will be satisfied as with fat and rich food, and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips
  10. It is our joy knowing it pleases God to save people through preaching the gospel.
1 Corinthians 1:21  For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe.
