2 Corinthians 4:6

“For God, who said, “Light shall shine out of darkness,” is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.”

God is the Gospel

Image-1 [15923]According to 2 Corinthians 4:4 we have received a ministry as we have received mercy from our Lord Jesus Christ. This ministry is a proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We have been chosen by our great God and Savior to proclaim Him to the world. Our hope is that others would come to a saving knowledge of Christ. To think of Christ and to speak of Him is more valuable than any creative thing living. God is the message.

It is a message that divides relationships within families, friends, and within self. Jesus did say that He did not come to bring peace but a sword – Matthew 10:34. Hebrews 4:12 says, “The word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intention of the heart.” The message hurts at first. It gets under our skin and pierces our very soul. If one sticks around, God through the Word will revive you back to life with the result being eternal life.

God uses the message to produce new hearts in individuals. The Gospel is the only message that has the ability to determine eternal life and eternal death. You live if you obey the Gospel and you will die if you disobey the Gospel. The LORD God gave Adam one command and that was not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil or Adam would surely die. God gives humanity one command and that is obey the Gospel or you will surely die.

The term Gospel means “good news”. It truly is good news. The aim of the Gospel is not the news or the message itself but who the message is about. Simply put; God is the Gospel. 2 Corinthians 4:4 reads, “the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” 2 Corinthians 4:6 also states, “For God, who said, “Light shall shine out of darkness,” is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.”

Jesus is the embodiment of all that God is – Hebrews 1:2-3. The very core of God is the Father who is made up of compassion, grace, love, kindness, truth, forgiveness and justice. All of these attributes plus His creative power are manifested into and through our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ uses all that the Father gave Him to shine into our hearts Himself in which we can never be separated – Romans 8:39. Once a person meets God through Christ, they will never be the same.

We can attest to this change. The world needs God! The change the world needs is God. We are the one’s chosen to declare Him to the world! Let’s not let this truth get bottled up within ourselves but let’s release the Truth. Let’s encourage each other with Jesus and let’s encourage the world with Jesus. For God is the Gospel!
