MAIN IDEA: Endeavor to practice ten characteristics of genuine love toward one another.
1 – Be Discerning: Abhor what is evil; cling to what is good. (v.9)
2 – Be Devoted: Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. (v.10)
3 – Be Valuing: Give preference to one another in honor. (v.10)
4 – Be Zealous: Not lagging behind in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord. (v.11)
5 – Be Heavenly-minded: Rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation, devoted to prayer. (v.12)
6 – Be Charitable: Contributing to the needs of the saints, practicing hospitality. (v.13)
7 – Be a Blessing: Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. (v.14)
8 – Be Empathetic: Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. (v.15)
9 – Be Like-Minded: Be of the same mind toward one another. (v.16)
10 – Be Humble: Do not be haughty in mind, but associate with the lowly. Do not be wise in your own estimation. (v.16)
